Every day is a new perspective
I’ve spent many early mornings with my camera at Lanikai Point in Kailua, Hawaii. It’s nice to get there early in the morning to watch the sunrise and reflect on the day ahead to gain perspective. There have been so many changes in my life in the past year: I’ve lost my mom, I’ve changed my job, and now I’m deciding what to do mother’s home in Kaneohe. It’s a long process which takes time and more energy than I ever excepted.
One thing I’ve found in life, time helps with perspective. When making big decisions, each day that passes helps put the pieces in place and helps with objectivity. I’m making some very big decisions in my life and the perspective may change with each sunrise so I’m giving myself time.
Part of this time of reflection will be a great big road trip around the United States! Yes!! I’m so excited!! This trip will include more than half of our states, so if you’re in the US there’s a good chance I’ll be in your state, and maybe just to visit you! I’d love to include some photography shoots in travels, so hit me up for a booking! I’m leaving San Diego, September 25 and headed North.
Photos are of Lanikai Point sunrises taken between May and August 2019.
Always growing and learning
I’m always open to growing and learning, but sometimes I need a little inspiration so I joined a photography meet up with the San Diego Photography Group. The focus of this meet up was long exposure in the evening. I learned a bit more about controlling my ISO to avoid the dreaded noise (little fuzzy dots in the photo) while maintaining a sharp focus. It was also great to get out there and meet other local photographers shooting for pleasure. All in all, a very fun evening and learned some insider tips on local places to shoot too!
Fast photo shoot at the zoo
Saturday’s visit to the zoo was a quick one. I went with a friend and we were only there for 2.5 hours. It was a fast visit but I was happy with how many great shots I was able to pack in such a shot time! Here are a few of my favorites.

Look around
Meerkats at the San Diego Zoo
Yesterday I spent the morning at the San Diego Zoo with a friend taking photos of the animals. While there I reflected on how many years I’ve been going to the San Diego Zoo and how it has matured into the wonderful destination it is. I’ve been going to this zoo since 1990, gosh, almost three decades, so I also reflected on how much has changed in my life in thirty years. It was a lifetime ago and I’m now completely different person with completely different life circumstances. If you are reading this blog and think you’re stuck and things will never change take a look around at where you are and the options available to you. If you’re not happy where you are take steps to move forward, be it small steps, or giant leaps! I’ll be here to cheer you on!
Stay tuned to this blog. Tomorrow I’ll post more photographs from the day. Polar bears and koala bears were the special treats of the day so tomorrow will have a nice collection.
